Anne-Lise Koefoed (1939- )

Born in 1939 in Denmark, Inge-Lise Koefoed studied from 1956 to 1960 at the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen. She participated in the creation of the Tenera series, but also, from 1964, still under the direction of Nils Thorsson, in the Baca series, of which she designed several forms.

She was one of six young female artists from Denmark, Norway and Sweden who Nils Thorsson brought into the faience department in 1958 to create a whole new style that came to prominence throughout the 60s and 70s.

In this series, in addition to the color blue, there is a common inspiration: plants, birds, geometric patterns, all stylized and for some of them, a way of organizing and filling the space, which is reminiscent of the tradition of Middle Eastern ceramics, especially that of Iznik.

Since then, Inge-Lise Koefoed has pursued a career as a ceramist, painter and sculptor.
